Behind the Blogs: Jake...

Writing Process
I wrote this one my tablet, phone, regular computer, school computer, laptop and my tablet but with a Bluetooth keyboard. As you can see, I tried writing whenever I could.

Towards the end Of January, I started writing the first diary entry with an app called Hancom Office. This app was always reliable since it did take up a lot of space. I remember I deleted all my Malicious files but that also meant it was going to delete Hancom files. I decided to back up all my documents on Google Drive around mid-February. It wasn't until late march when I decided to quit the app altogether.

History of all the
times I've edited
and wrote stuff
I went through I really long writers block in May. Around the time I had a lot going on like 8th-grade graduation, my birthday, friend drama and transitioning to High-school. I didn't start writing again until November and a lot of the ending was written in December.

Something that's hard when it comes to writing episodes is moving the plot along. A lot of my writer's block comes when I can't think of what should happen next. My friend gave me some advice to plot point stories I write. Sadly it was too late and I already had 70% of the story done. When writing stories, I always know how the story starts, the main conflict and the ending of the story. I never know what happens in between all of those but I have an idea of what might happen. I don't write these down so a lot of what I imagine the story is going to go in the beginning, it's different from how I actually write it a year later.

For most of November, I had write a few sentences when I could. IT wasn't until December 7th sessions when I had a two hour writing session and finally finished writing the story.

Editing process
I did a few new things when it came to editing. First off, unlike Diary Thief and the first two Blog-iary episodes, I edited everything on my tablet.
Here's a side by side comparison of
a draft I had and an edit I did.
I wanted to be more green and use less paper and ink. Mostly everything except for the last two entries I had edited on a sketchbook app. I used a desktop app for grammar called Ginger. It's really great but can be a pain when I insert already formatted text into the program. It always changes the font and paragraph settings of my text.

I did have to change one thing around when it came copyright. I had originally wanted dialogue from the play Fiddler On The Roof but I realized I could get into some legal trouble if I did that.

Around the time I finished writing my first draft, I told a few of my friends about it and one of them wanted to read it. She also said she wanted to be an editor, but with my compacted schedule, I couldn't send her my last few edits.
My Friend's comments on certain parts

For the last two diary entries I had decided to edit them on paper because my sketchbook app was acing up and taking too much space. I think once I figure out how to save this app's by files onto my laptop; I'll try to digitally edit.

Formatting process
This is a long and hardest process out of the whole making of these episodes. Blogger doesn't always corporate with what I want it to look like in the end.

A main problem I face is fonts not showing up on other computers. This is why I've recently changed the font and colors for the series. Even with changing them, it still isn't showing up. I'm thinking about talking to Blogger about it but Google seems to be infamous lately with not responding to creators.
Fonts on the blog

One problem that I don't think has popped up before was knowing how to set up two pictures. There wasn't a way for me to arrange everything in a way I wanted it to be arranged. I wanted to arrange the pictures for Rania's Pajamas that didn't have a very short paragraph in between the two pictures. No matter how many times I tried arranging it, it never came out the way I wanted it to. In the end I had to ignore my problem and went with the original arrangement.

One of the methods I wanted to
use for aligning things.
I changed my text messages graphics to something that resembled early 2014's Google Hangout layout. I really didn't have a reason to do it than that I just wanted to do it. I liked the new graphics than the old one because it closely resembles Google Hangout and it's aesthetically pleasing. I might change it again later on in season two of the series but it won't as a dramatic change as the latest change.

Unlike before, I didn't really have that much to format when it came to fonts. Since I typed this on Google Docs, it had already had the font settings I need. All I had to do this time was copy and paste the text. I'm definitely going to do this for the rest of the next few episodes.

Final Step
Now that I'm finally done with the story, I can share it.

Overall, I could have done better with this new episode. I am though, amazed that I never gave up on this episode. Even though I had some much making me want to give up on working on this, I'm really proud of myself that I stuck with this episode till the end. I'm going to try my best to not publish a new episode a year later. Now, I've got potluck to plan, see you all next week.
